Fitted wardrobes in Dovercourt

The job

A homeowner in Dovercourt wanted two bedrooms fitted out properly rather than filled with standard flat-pack units bought to the nearest size. Each room had a different amount of space to work with, and in both cases an off-the-shelf wardrobe would have left gaps at the sides and wasted the height above. We measured both rooms and designed two fitted wardrobes to suit the space available, one considerably larger than the other.

What we did

Both wardrobes were made from scratch in our own workshop. The door frames were machined and assembled, the hinge positions bored on the pillar drill, and every component cut to the sizes taken from the rooms rather than to a standard unit size. The doors were made in a shaker style and finished with long metal handles. Everything was then spray-finished in PU paint in our own spray shop, which gives a smooth, hard-wearing finish. The larger of the two is a four-door wardrobe with double hanging rails. The second is a three-door wardrobe with a combination of shelving and hanging space, so it works for folded clothes as well as hanging ones. Both were fitted on site by Chris.

The result

Two fitted wardrobes in Dovercourt that use the full height and width of the walls they sit against, with a sprayed finish and a consistent shaker front across both rooms. Because everything was made and finished in the workshop rather than bought in, the storage inside was arranged around what the customer actually needed to put in them.
