Floating TV Media Cabinet
Wall-mounted media unit with concealed cable management
The Brief
A floating media unit sprayed in Farrow & Ball Pavilion Grey, set against an oak-panelled feature wall, with the TV wall-mounted above and all cables concealed inside the cabinet. Sprayed in the workshop for a smooth, durable finish.
What We Did
A wall-mounted floating media unit set against an oak-panelled feature wall, floating clear of the carpet below. The TV was wall-hung above; the cabinet houses the AV kit and hides all cabling. Three push-latch doors across the front (no visible handles) match the room's clean, minimal look.
The carcase was built in the workshop from moisture-resistant board with a concealed mounting rail so it appears to float off the wall. All AV cables are routed through the cabinet and out the back to a hidden power point behind the unit - nothing visible from the front. The doors and end panels were sprayed in Farrow & Ball Pavilion Grey for durability against fingerprints and everyday knocks, and the oak wall panelling behind was finished in a 10% lacquer.
Installation was a single-day fit: mounting rail secured to studs, cabinet hung and levelled, cables routed and terminated. All doors adjusted so the reveals line up perfectly across the front.
The Result
A media wall with a genuinely clean, uncluttered look - TV mounted, cables invisible, and the cabinet floating off the floor against the oak-panelled wall. The sprayed Pavilion Grey finish holds up to everyday use without showing marks.
